Spiritual Highway

I have already said that no person is an island. We live and thrive in community. Community has evolved from its original meaning of a physical location. It now means a group of people with similar likes, interests, and beliefs. This latter definition shows how community can shape our identify and give up meaning and purpose to our lives.

Key to my community is my parish. We share common likes, interests, and beliefs. We do things together like attend mass or hold RCIA meetings. Members of my parish do things for one another like take them shopping, to appointments, or bring them communion. We provide one another social opportunities. We have meals together such as potlucks. We take an active interest in the well being of others. I support my parish through my tithes and offerings. My parish is only a small piece of my community. I could include my work, my involvement with San Diego People First and so on

Being in community brings friendships and shared life experiences and wholeness to life.  I am very proud of the community I belong to and it makes me very happy and more complete as a person.
