Last Saturday, I went to the vigil and the Gospel reading was from John, the Wedding Feast. It is a happy account where Mary calls on her son to save the party from disaster. The account is rich in symbolism and foreshadows Christ’s death on the cross. It is one of my favorite stories from the gospels. The bride and groom are not mentioned in the account. We don’t know of their relationship to Mary and Jesus, but we do know that their wedding feast served as a backdrop for Christ’s first of seven miracles.
