SDPF has such dreams to hold a conference next year. It is so hard to plan for such an event with so much uncertainty in the air. We definitely need it because it would be a great morale booster. The pandemic has been especially hard for those of us with developmental disabilities. It has disrupted services, impinged on our access to the community, and restricted our mobility.
More importantly, the Self-Determination Program will be opening up to all Regional Center clients in California, who want them next year. They need to know the benefits and the demands of the program. Being in Self-Determination can be a real game changer for them, but it does take work from them and on their behalf. This is why the SDPF Conference Planning Committee and the SDPF officers are working so very hard to make this dream a reality.
